About the River Access Club

Shared responsibility. Real community.

The River Access Club (RAC) is a membership-based community of people who love rivers, camping, and shared adventure. We are not a guiding service, and we don’t sell outfitted trips. Instead, we work together as peers — learning, preparing, and sharing costs to make river access more sustainable and inclusive.

What Makes the RAC Different

Peer-Led, Not Guided

Every trip is organized by members, for members. No one is paid to guide or instruct. We share knowledge and responsibility as equals.

Cost-Share, Not Outfitting

Instead of paying for services, members split the actual costs of group gear, permits, and logistics. More people = lower costs per person.

Member Orientation

To join trips, members complete RAC’s orientation course. This ensures everyone enters with the same foundation of self-responsibility, safety awareness, and cultural values.

Gear Garage

Some group gear — like kitchens, groovers, and gear rafts — is available through the shared Gear Garage. Members help set up, use, and return this gear responsibly.

Community Not Competition

RAC is built on inclusivity, respect, and shared growth. Trips are not about proving skills or chasing status — they’re about connecting with people, rivers, and landscapes in a way that uplifts everyone.

Education as Access

Knowledge is what unlocks the river. By completing the RAC orientation and continuing to learn, members gain the tools to participate safely and responsibly — not just for themselves, but for the good of the whole group.

Our Values

Stewardship — We follow Leave No Trace, respect land and water, and aim to leave every place better than we found it.

Inclusivity — All are welcome. We value diverse experiences and treat every member with respect.

Self-Responsibility

Each member shows up prepared with their own gear, skills, and readiness

Shared Effort

Trips work because everyone contributes: carrying, cooking, cleaning, supporting

Accountability

Safety and success depend on honesty and responsibility to ourselves and each other

Adaptability

Rivers change. Weather shifts. Gear fails. We stay flexible and find solutions together.

Why RAC Exists

Accessing rivers should be about community, not commerce. By creating a peer-led model, we make trips more affordable, inclusive, and sustainable while honoring the rules of land and river managers.
